Here is the ideal opportunity for us all to reinforce our belief in:
Mark 5 of the 5 MARKS OF MISSION -

"To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation; to sustain and renew the life of the earth."

At the launch of the North-East Eco-Congegation Programme Launch, our then Synod Moderator, Peter Poulter, was among a large group of NE church leaders who, on our behalf, signed the following:
 

Rejoicing that:
We live in a beautiful and awe-inspiring world and

Recognising that:
Christians believe in a Creator God who entrusts humanity with the care of the planet for the present and future generations and for all living creatures

And that:
Global warming, air pollution, the sustainable consumption of valuable resources, disposal of waste and many other inter-related environmental issues have an ever-increasing and detrimental impact on the earth and its peoples

We call upon:
Churches and individual Christians in the North-East to continue to study the issues and to build on their existing concerns and actions by taking further practical and spiritual steps to care for the environment

And we commend:
The Eco-Congregation Programme as a valuable resource to encourage churches and their members to play their part in caring for the Earth.

Eco-Congregation is a partnership programme, with Going for Green, providing a framework for environmental action as well as resources for practical and spiritual activities. By following the programme, churches will be encouraged to consider environmental issues in every part of their lives, including:
