Pastoral Care
Here at Northgate, we pride ourselves on continuing the effective pastoral care system which we inherited from the Presbyterian side of our tradition and further developed following changes to the elders' serving period.
Each church member and regular contact is provided with a chosen Elder or other Pastoral Visitor, who will:
- Visit the members of his/her group routinely four times a year, and make further supplementary visits as may be found to be necessary to support the ongoing pastoral needs of the group members.
- Arrange hospital visits when required.
- Distribute communion cards, church Christmas cards and Free Will Offering envelopes.
- Maintain ongoing contact with families by sending out Birthday cards (to under-fives who attend Junior church or who have been baptised in the church), Wedding Anniversary cards
- Respond to the individual care needs and transport requirements of members and contacts.
The pastoral care system is arranged and monitored by the Membership & Care Committee.
A detailed description of the Membership & Care Committee's activities is given here.
